Rebar Steel Weight Calculator
Rebar weight calculator for kg per foot for 8mm, 12mm, 16mm and other common diameters. Use the free Rebar Steel Weight Calculator below — enter your values and get instant results, right in your browser. Weight per foot (kg/ft) = diameter² ÷ 162 × 0.3048, giving 0.120 kg/ft for 8 mm, 0.271 kg/ft for 12 mm and 0.482 kg/ft for 16 mm. Total weight (kg) = total length (ft) × weight per foot.
How to use the Rebar Steel Weight Calculator
Steel is sold by weight but planned by length, so every site engineer needs a quick way to convert bar lengths into kilograms. This rebar weight calculator covers the six diameters used on Pakistani construction sites — 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 and 25 mm — and applies the standard density formula (diameter squared divided by 162) converted to a per-foot rate. Enter the total running length of all bars of one diameter, pick the size, and you get the exact weight to check against the dealer bill or to estimate the steel budget.
- Add up the total running length in feet of all bars of the same diameter and enter it in the Total length field.
- Select the bar diameter from the dropdown (8 mm to 25 mm).
- Click Calculate to get the total steel weight in kilograms.
- Check the full 40-foot bars figure to know how many standard lengths to order.
- Repeat for each diameter used in the slab, beams or columns.

Frequently asked questions
A 12 mm bar weighs about 0.271 kg per foot. A standard 40-foot bar therefore weighs roughly 10.8 kg.
It is derived from the density of steel (7850 kg per cubic metre): weight per metre = diameter² ÷ 162. The calculator converts this to a per-foot rate.
Yes. Multiply your measured bar lengths by the per-foot rate for each diameter and compare the total with the billed weight.
