Use the free Driveway Gravel Quantity Calculator below — enter your values and get instant results, right in your browser. Volume (cu ft) = length × width × depth/12. Cubic metres = cu ft ÷ 35.31. Tonnes = cubic metres × 1.6 (gravel density).
How to use the Driveway Gravel Quantity Calculator
A gravel driveway is the cheapest hard surface for a farm or house approach, but gravel is sold by the trolley or tonne while driveways are measured in feet — and depth is where most people guess wrong. This calculator takes your driveway length, width and planned depth in inches, then gives the volume in cubic feet and cubic metres plus the weight in tonnes, so you can order from the crush plant with confidence. Four inches of compacted gravel is the usual minimum for car traffic.
- Enter the driveway length and width in feet.
- Enter the gravel depth in inches (4 inches minimum for cars).
- Click Calculate to see cubic feet, cubic metres and tonnes.
- Add about 10% extra for compaction and an uneven base.
