Worked example

A Rs 2,500 suit at 20% off: saving = 2,500 × 20 ÷ 100 = Rs 500; sale price = Rs 2,000. If the suit cost Rs 1,800, the shopkeeper still earns Rs 200 — the discount is safe. Printing the exact sale price on tags avoids counter disputes during the sale rush.
